INTEGRA PLACES FIRST IN PITTSBURGH'S BANK RATING SYSTEM
PITTSBURGH, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Gayland B. Cook, president and chief executive officer of Integra Bank/Pittsburgh, has announced that Integra has placed first in the city's bi-annual Rating System for Banks.
According to Ben Hayllar, City of Pittsburgh's director of finance, the rating system is used to allocate city business depending on each bank's record of service to the city and its neighborhoods.
The ratings are prepared by the city's Department of Finance and are based on each bank's quality of service (20 percent), the bank's cost of service to the city (30 percent) and primarily -- each bank's history of lending to the citizens of the city (50 percent). In the evaluation, consideration was given to Pittsburgh's principal depository banks -- Integra Bank/Pittsburgh, Equibank, Pittsburgh National Bank and Mellon Bank.
Hayllar believes the rating system creates a comprehensive view of the manner in which a bank contributes to its community. The rating emphasizes the city's greatest needs -- mortgage lending and projects for low and moderate income neighborhoods, loans for women and/or minority-owned businesses in the city, and civic and philanthropic contributions in money or service to the citizens of Pittsburgh.
Hayllar explains that the system assures each bank an equal opportunity to service City of Pittsburgh active deposits. The ratings are also designed to assure the city the lowest price for secure, prompt, and accurate banking and to guarantee the full benefit of the lending institution's loans and services to all qualified city residents.
Cook emphasized that, "In the overall ratings, the fact that Integra Bank/Pittsburgh placed ahead of the other banks is a reflection of our aggressive programs and total commitment to community development. This evaluation also indicates our quality banking service to the city and high level of sponsorship of city events."
