 INSTEEL INDUSTRIES ORGANIZES MEXICAN CORPORATION
 TO PRODUCE 3-D(TM) BUILDING PANEL
MOUNT AIRY, N.C., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Insteel Industries, Inc. (AMEX: III), today announced that its Insteel Construction Systems, Inc. subsidiary has organized a Mexican corporation, Insteel Panel-MEX S.A. De C.V., with Mexican associates Justino Herrera-Olaiz, Justino Herrera- Garcia, and Juan Martinez-Moreno for the purpose of manufacturing Insteel 3-D(TM) panels in Mexicali, Baja California.
The Insteel 3-D panel is a structural component consisting of two parallel sheets of welded wire reinforcement connected by galvanized diagonal truss wires that penetrate an insulating core of modified expanded polystyrene. Concrete is field applied to each side of the panel after erection, resulting in a continuously reinforced insulated concrete sandwich wall.
Howard O. Woltz Jr., chairman of Insteel Industries, commented, "We are pleased to have this Mexican project underway and to be associated with an outstanding Mexican group that has been very successful in the concrete block industry operating as block/MEX in Mexicali, San Felipe, and Hermosillo. Concrete construction is preferred for buildings and walls in Mexico and we anticipate that our new 3-D panel will be readily accepted. The pending free trade agreements should stimulate the rapidly expanding Mexican economy and overall construction activity.
"While customers in Arizona and California are being served on a limited basis by our Brunswick, Ga. plant, a Mexicali production facility will also serve to accelerate the use of Insteel 3-D in these areas."
Insteel Industries, Inc., one of the largest wire products manufacturers in the United States, produces welded wire reinforcement, galvanized fencing products, specialty wire fabrics, nails and the Insteel 3-D panels.
