Volvo's OptiShift is a driveline system for Volvo L150F, L180F and L220F wheel loaders that reduces fuel consumption by 12%, the company says. It is a refinement of the Volvo APS driveline. It includes a new torque converter with lock-up and free-wheel stator, as well as the Volvo reverse-by-braking function.
When operating at a constant speed, the pump and turbine rotor inside the torque converter are locked together through a direct-drive clutch, lowering power losses and fuel consumption. The auto lock-up function is activated by a switch on the cab post panel and occurs in second, third and fourth gear.
The reverse-by-braking function assists deceleration by applying the standard service brake instead of the torque converter. It applies when the operator uses the gear selector control for changing direction of operation from reverse to forward or forward to reverse. Volvo Construction Equipment Enter 183
Doran Manufacturing's 360CE tire pressure monitoring system is for all sizes and configurations of commercial equipment. Programming and installation of the digital LCD display and valve-mounted sensors can be accomplished without special tools in less than an hour. The sensors can be activated to transmit tire pressure and temperature data with the Doran SmartLink tool during walk-around inspection.
The in-cab display of the 360CE system provides real-time monitoring for up to 36 wheel positions. A fast-leak warning is triggered when tire pressure drops 2.8 psi in less than 12 seconds. A high-temperature alarm that is activated if a sensor's temperature reaches 248[degrees] F. The alarm times are recorded. A driver lockout function prevents accidental tampering. Dust Control Technology's 180-degree oscillation option covers more than 80,000 square feet. The DustBoss DB-60 can cover nearly two acres with a dust-trapping mist. The revised designs require a center water feed to accommodate the increased range of motion. Larger motors have been installed on the DB-60 and the DB-45 that have four different settings. Users can choose 45-, 90-, 135- or 180-degree options. The DB-60 employs a series of 30 nozzles to atomize water into 50- to 200-micron droplets for particle attraction. The atomized spray is launched by a 25-horsepower motor that generates 30,000 cfm and is thrown more than 200 feet. The carriage-mounted device is completely portable. Force Control Industries' MagnaShear motor brake has oil-shear technology that transmits torque between lubricated surfaces. The fluid recirculation system dissipates heat. MagnaShear motor brakes are for applications where the motor is reversed each cycle such as loader and unloader conveyors, pallet return conveyors, pallet turnover, load spade assembly, or unloader assembly. Unlike dry brakes, oil-shear brakes have a layer of automatic-transmission fluid between the brake disc and the drive plate. As the fluid is compressed, the its molecules shear, imparting torque to the other side. This torque transmission causes the stationary surface to turn, bringing it up to the same relative speed as the moving surface. Along with heat removal and torque transmission, the fluid serves to continually lubricate all components of the oil shear brake. Spring-set torque ratings from 3 to 1,250 foot-pounds are available. SPLIT ROLLER BEARINGS
Revolvo's split roller bearings are available in 240-mm and, 10-mm units. They can be manufactured with bored pocket precision brass cages. These split roller bearings require 10% to 15% of the time required to fit a typical solid bearing, the company says. They can be inspected in situ as part of a planned maintenance schedule. The spherical location between the housing and pedestal support ensures that even under conditions of shaft misalignment, the seal will remain concentric to the shaft. Revolvo can provide long-term sealing and special split-steel labyrinth collars. Drives are available with eight CGSM sizes (2 - 9), input horsepower from a to 125, and output rpm from 4 - 6 up to 118 - 125, for material-handling applications. The Dodge motorized torque-arm II shaft-mounted speed reducer is a right-angle gearbox with an IEC flanged motor interface for two- or four-pole motors. There are 12 helical gear reduction ratios and three case sizes available for speed reductions from 18:1 to 75:1 for class-2 applications from 1.5 to 55 kW, with efficiencies up to 95%.
The reducer is rated to meet the 6010 American Gear Manufacturers Association standard that also specifies a 5,000-hour bearing life, which is approximately twice as long as comparable DIN design specifications. Hydrogenated-butadene-nitrile rubber seals are standard, and the torque arm is designed to be used with Dodge twin tapered bushings to prevent wobble and fretting corrosion.
