INNOVATION: EU BRINGS TOGETHER MORE THAN 1300 PARTNERSHIPS.
The EUs euro 5.5 billion EQUAL programme has created over 1300 partnerships bringing together key actors to encourage innovation, the European Commission said on February 24, ahead of a "free movement of good ideas" conference, to be held in Warsaw on February 25 and 26. The innovations range from helping ethnic minorities set up their own businesses in France, to rehabilitating prisoners into the workforce in Austria, to improving role sharing between men and women in the home in the Netherlands. Vladimir Spidla, social affairs commissioner, commented: "Renewing Europe's innovative capacity is essential, and the best way to do this is through partnerships, at every level."
