East Africa has come to Edinburgh with the opening of Magda restaurant.

The owner is Sudanese and the diner is covered in photos of African villages, tribes people and handcarved wooden souvenirs.

The menu offers Mediterranean dishes alongside African specialities so you can choose between dishes such as a Greek salad at pounds 3.50 or bamia which is spicy okra cooked slowly with lamb or chicken at pounds 7.50.

As well as a selection of grilled and marinated meat and fish, there are lots of veggie options.

These run from a simple lentil soup at pounds 4 to molokhia or East African spinach cooked with onion, garlic and spices.

And Magda is a bring your own bottle place to wash it all down.
