INLAND FISHER GUIDE-TRENTON EMPLOYES TOLD OF POTENTIAL FOR SALE

WARREN, Mich., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Employes at General Motors Inland Fisher Guide Division (IFG) Trenton, N.J., plant were told today there is the potential that the business and facility, scheduled to cease operations by the end of 1993, may be sold.
Terry L. Marquis, plant manager, informed employes that IFG will aggressively pursue the possibility of a sale. "IFG will focus its energies in pursuing a sale," he said. "Based on several inquiries, we are optimistic that the plant will be sold and remain a viable business, contributing to the local economy and maintaining jobs."
General Motors (NYSE: GM) originally announced in December 1992 that the IFG-Trenton plant would cease operations in the fourth quarter of 1993.
If there is no viable sale offer by mid-1993, IFG will proceed with plans to cease operations at the facility.
The Trenton facility employs 1,814 people and produces door handles, seat adjusters, body moldings, and encapsulated glass.
Inland Fisher Guide employs 30,000 people and operates 25 manufacturing sites in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, and Europe which supply body hardware, interior systems, lighting and bumper systems, and seat systems to customers around the world.
