INHILCO TERMINATES CURRENT MANAGEMENT CONTRACT WITH WINDOWS ON THE WORLD; WILL ACTIVELY PURSUE NEW CONTRACT

NEW YORK, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Inhilco, a subsidiary of Hilton International, has terminated its current management contract with Windows on the World. The management company, which created and opened the award-winning restaurant in 1976 and has managed it ever since, will actively pursue a new contract with Windows on the World through its owner, the Port Authority. Had it not been terminated, the original contract would have run through December 1994.
"Unresolved issues concerning parking and food storage have left us no choice but to terminate our current contract with Port Authority for Windows on the World," stated Jean-Claude Noel, senior vice president of the Americas for Hilton International. "However, we are pursuing a new agreement on more suitable terms, and have submitted an RFP to Port Authority to this end. We are confident that with new investment, Windows on the World will regain its prominence."
Noel further commented, "The tremendous size and scope of Windows on the World's operations will be best served by the expert guidance of a worldwide operator such as Inhilco. The Port Authority's plans to expand the restaurant's offerings with an international restaurant, cocktail lounge, extensive banquet facilities, a private club for 2,000 members and a Japanese restaurant in addition to its current 350-seat dining room only underscores the need for a highly experienced management company with international experience.
"In addition, Hilton International's management of the Vista Hotel makes Inhilco the company best suited to synergize the two operations."
Last year, Hilton International generated more than $1 billion in food and beverage at its 165 properties worldwide. Among the company's most renowned restaurants are the Cape Cod at The Drake in Chicago, Maison du Boeuf at the Brussels Hilton in Belgium, and Le Cyne at the Geneva Hilton in Switzerland.
Hilton International chef teams have garnered top industry honors at international competitions. They have been named "Best Hotel Team" for the second conservative time at the eighth Food & Hotel Asia's Salon Culinaire in Singapore, winning a total of 111 medals, including 31 gold. At the 1992 "Culinary Olympics" staged in Frankfurt, Hilton International chefs captured the greatest number of awards of all participating hotel teams.
Windows on the World is located on the 107th floor of One World Trade Center. Since its opening in 1976, it has earned international fame.
