INFORMATION AMERICA COMPLETES HYLIND INFOQUEST ACQUISITION

ATLANTA, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Information America, Inc. (NASDAQ: INFO) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Baltimore-based Hylind infoQuest and two affiliated companies.
Hylind infoQuest has 11 offices and approximately 100 employees throughout the United States. Mary A. Madden, president of Information America, noted that due to Hylind infoQuest's profitability and the all- cash nature of the transaction, the acquisition is expected to be accretive on an earnings per share basis beginning in 1993. A portion of the purchase price is tied to the success of future operations and is payable in future years. Senior management of Hylind infoQuest will continue with Information America. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Commenting on the acquisition, Madden said: "Information America had been doing business with Hylind infoQuest for a number of years prior to this acquisition. We expect Hylind infoQuest's experience in manual retrieval and copying of public documents for closings, litigation and detailed investigations to supplement Information America's experience in developing and marketing databases for on-line searching." Madden continued, "Although there is some overlap of the companies' customers, we expect substantial cross-selling opportunities for products and services."
Additionally, Madden said, "The completion of this acquisition is fundamental to Information America's strategic plan for growth of products, services and geographic expansion into new markets."
Information America provides attorneys, other legal professionals, banks, government entities and private investigative firms with on-line information designed to satisfy needs arising from commercial transactions and business litigation. The company's information products and services are used to search for background data about businesses, determine the existence of liens on real estate, locate assets of all kinds, obtain government records, and resolve many other transaction-related issues. The company serves 97 of the 100 largest law firms in the United States.
