INFORMATION ACCESS ANNOUNCES NEW SCHOOL LIBRARY REFERENCE SYSTEM CALLED 'TOM JUNIOR'

FOSTER CITY, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer technology continues to revolutionize the way data is stored and retrieved. Therefore, computers have changed forever the way all public, academic, corporate and secondary school libraries provide research services.
With this in mind, Information Access Co. has just announced another new reference system called TOM Junior(TM), designed specifically for the advanced research needs of the junior/middle school library market. TOM Junior provides students with the same technology found in the TOM General(TM) reference system, which is available for senior high school libraries.
"Late last year, after talking to junior and middle school librarians around the country, it was apparent that the TOM General Index and its CD-ROM full text component, could be customized into a version to meet the needs of junior and middle school librarians," said senior marketing manager of the TOM group, Kathy Niemeier.
The new TOM Junior provides the following features:
-- An index to every article from 57 magazines that junior/middle school librarians have determined mandatory for students' and teachers' needs.
-- Index coverage that is the most recent three full years of the selected magazines.
-- Full text is provided on CD-ROM for all articles from 35 of the indexed magazines; providing approximately a one-to-one ratio of index to full text. Again, coverage is the most recent three full years.
-- Both the index and full text are updated monthly.
-- Can be used on DOS or IBM-compatible computers; an Apple Macintosh version to be made available in the near future.
Information Access Co., located in Foster City, is the world's leading developer of periodical reference products available in CD-ROM, online and tape format for public, academic and corporate libraries, and in microfiche and

CD-ROM for secondary school libraries.
NOTE: All library professionals should contact Kathy Niemeier for more information or a copy of the new TOM Junior video at 415-378-5200.
