INFINITI REPORTS APRIL SALES INCREASE

CARSON, Calif., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Infiniti, the luxury-car division of Nissan Motor Corp. (NMC), USA, reported April month-end sales of 4,500, a 35.7 percent increase over sales of 3,316 for the corresponding period last year, and a 2.9 percent increase over last month's sales of 4,543 (percentages are calculated on a Daily Selling Rate).
"Infiniti had a dramatic sales increase this month over last year's sales, which is one of the highest growth rates in the luxury- car segment," said William R. Bruce, vice president and general manager of Infiniti Division. "April's sales increase can be attributed in large part to our customers' overwhelming response to the new Q45 and G20."
Earlier in April, Infiniti introduced the new 1994 Q45 luxury performance sedan, featuring more than 70 enhancements, and the 1993.5 G20 luxury sports sedan, which offers such standard equipment as driver and passenger's side airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and an Anti-Lock Braking (ABS) system.
Infiniti's sales per dealer were 31, maintaining the Division's position as a sales-per-outlet leader, ahead of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar.
 April sales by model included 988 Q45s, 1,632 J30s, 1,861 G20s, and 19 M30s.
Calendar year-to-date (CYTD) sales in 1993 totalled 14,995, an increase of 23.8 percent over sales of 12,113 recorded in CYTD 1992.
Both the new Q and G are available at each of Infiniti's 146 dealers nationwide. In support of the Q's launch, Infiniti introduced its new Q45 advertising campaign and tagline: "Infiniti -- It's Everything that possible" on April 23.
Total NMC sales in April, including Nissan and Infiniti Divisions, totalled 58,336, a 20 percent increase over sales of 48,628 posted in the corresponding sales period last year.
