INFINITI HAS BANNER YEAR; CLOSES 1992 WITH 27 PERCENT SALES INCREASE

CARSON, Calif., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Infiniti closed the 1992 calendar year with sales of 44,387, an increase of 27 percent over sales of 34,890, for the previous year, according to sales figures released today by the luxury-car division of Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A.
Infiniti also posted a sales increase in December with sales of 3,957, an increase of 85 percent over sales of 2,144 for the corresponding period last year.
During calendar year 1992, Infiniti Division's dealer body grew by nearly 20 percent with the addition of 22 new dealers, bringing the total dealer count to 127.
In March, the division launched the all-new 1993 J30 personal luxury sedan, which has sold at a monthly rate of nearly 1,500 units, representing approximately 35 percent of the product mix.
In 1992, the division also took top honors in J.D. Power & Associates Initial Quality Study, and second-place finishes in the Power organization's Customer Satisfaction Index and Sales Satisfaction Index.
"Infiniti has enjoyed a great deal of success in 1992, despite what has been a very challenging market," said William R. Bruce, Infiniti vice president and general manager. "Infiniti has increased sales, added dealers, been recognized by major consumer studies as a leader in quality and customer satisfaction, and has launched the highly successful J30."
December sales per dealer of 31 maintained the division's leadership position in the luxury-car market, ahead of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar.
By model, December sales included 1,236 Q45 performance luxury sedans, 1,278 J30 personal luxury sedans, and 1,416 G20 luxury sports sedans.
Infiniti, which celebrated its third anniversary in November, has increased sales each year since launch.
