INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES COMMENT ON EPA ANNOUNCEMENT
EPA is expected on Thursday morning to announce its findings regarding its five year review of ethylenebisdithiocarbamates (EBDCs). EBDCs are a class of agricultural fungicides that are used on a wide variety of crops in the United States to protect America's food supply from various plant diseases.
The EBDC Task Force, an industry group composed of BASF Corporation, the Du Pont Company, Elf ATOCHEM North America, Inc. and Rohm and Haas Company, represents the major manufacturers of EBDCs and has conducted extensive studies on the safety of using EBDCs on agriculture.
Key industry representatives from this task force will issue statements and be available for comment for two hours immediately following EPA's press conference in the Lisagor Room on the 13th floor of the National Press Club at 529 14th Street N.W.,
Washington. Tentative time: noon - 2:00 p.m. Press kits will be available.
