 FILES FOR PROTECTION FROM CREDITORS
COLUMBIA, S.C., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- DET Holdings Corporation, along with its subsidiaries, Dominion Engineered Textiles, Inc. and Fabrics Holdings Corporation, today announced that they have filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.
The purpose of the Chapter 11 filing is to allow the companies to restructure their debt and operations, which have been seriously impacted by the recession and the overcapacity that exists in some of their market areas.
Dominion Engineered Textiles manufactures industrial textile products and is the largest independent tire cord fabric manufacturer in North America. It employs 1,100 people at plants in Thomaston and Hogansville, Ga.
Operations of Fabrics Holdings Corporation Canadian subsidiary, Dominion Engineered Fabrics, Inc., whose manufacturing facility is located in Drummondville, Quebec, are not affected by the filings.
