INDRESCO ANNOUNCES SALE OF STANDARD COMPRESSORS EUROPE OPERATIONS

 DALLAS, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- INDRESCO Inc. (NYSE: ID) announced today that it had sold its standard compressors Europe operations to Atlas Copco AB, Stockholm, Sweden, subject to normal regulatory approval. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
 Standard compressors europe, headquartered in Meru, France, primarily manufactures small to medium pressure reciprocating and screw- type air compressors for use in a variety of industrial markets in Western Europe. Atlas Copco's intent is to operate standard compressors Europe as an independent entity with significant technological/marketing and managerial support. It is anticipated that the existing management structure will be retained to ensure continued service and support to the ongoing customer base for the operations.
 Ralph W. Ytterberg, Chairman of the Board said, "This action is one where this operation has little synergy with INDRESCO's markets or technology, but has significant technology synergies with Atlas Copco. Our action is designed to sharpen INDRESCO's strategic direction and enhance shareholder value."
 INDRESCO, headquartered in Dallas, is a major supplier of refractories for high-temperature processes, specialized air tools, and surface and underground mining equipment. INDRESCO's 1992 consolidated revenues totaled $559 million. Assets as of July 31, 1993 were $458 million. The Company has approximately 27 million shares outstanding and 15,000 shareholders.
