INDIVIDUAL ANNOUNCES ENHANCED ALERT 2.0 INTRA-DAY NEWS ALERTING SERVICE

Continuous Internet-Based News Feed Keeps Users Immediately Informed of
 Relevant News Throughout the Day

BURLINGTON, Mass., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Individual, Inc. (Nasdaq: INDV), a leader in customized information services, announced today Release 2.0 of Alert, the company's intra-day alerting service designed to deliver breaking news stories about public and private companies by e-mail. Now in its second generation, Alert 2.O intelligently draws relevant news stories from major newswires, matches them to client profiles, and delivers them within minutes to e-mail addresses. Information may be tracked on up to 40 companies per profile with no limit on the number of stories sent each day. With Alert 2. 0, Individual continues to make it easy for clients to instantly receive the information which is important to them.

Alert 2.0 gives customers news access to any company tracked by Individual's Company Tracker Database. This database follows news on nearly 20,000 public and private companies, including all public companies trading on the New York, American, and NASDAQ exchanges, plus thousands of private companies and divisions worldwide. Unlike competitive services that track companies using simple keyword search or ticker symbols, Alert 2. 0 employs Individual's proprietary SMART (System for Manipulation and Retrieval of Text) news agent and thesaurus to deliver highly relevant news stories within minutes of their release. Newswires monitored include Business Wire, PR Newswire and Reuters Financial Wire.

"Busy professionals, such as those in financial services, sales, and public and investor relations, require relevant, breaking news stories on a wide range of companies throughout the day," said Yosi Amram, founder and CEO of Individual, Inc. "Alert 2. 0 delivers on this promise with highly targeted news that doesn't clutter your e-mail box with irrelevant information. Alert 2.0 is vital in keeping abreast of competitors, customers, suppliers and one's industry."

New Features

Based on feedback from Alert enterprise clients, Individual has incorporated several new enhancements into Alert 2.0. They include:

-- Ability to track private as well as public companies

-- SMART-enhanced filtering to enhance story relevance

-- Aggressive per-seat pricing
