 TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 PHILADELPHIA, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Carol Gassert Carroll, Patrick D. Finley and Edward H. Morris Jr. have been named to the board of directors of Independence Blue Cross.
 The announcement was made by Robert H. Young, chairman of the board of directors, Independence Blue Cross, and G. Fred DiBona Jr., president and chief executive officer, Independence Blue Cross, at the annual meeting last night.
 "I am pleased to welcome these three successful and talented individuals to our board," said DiBona. "Their collective experience in business, labor and government will provide a broad perspective for the critical issues facing Independence Blue Cross and the health care industry."
 Carroll is a business executive and entrepreneur with a background in education and government. She is president and chief executive officer of Shulco, Inc., which provides computer training and consulting to businesses. Carroll is also a member of the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority, which is charged with monitoring the budget of the city and undertaking financing of the city's deficit. Prior to founding Schulco, Inc., Carroll was the director of the Executive MBA Program of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
 Finley is a labor representative with more than 17 years of experience in the concrete construction industry. He currently is the pension and health and welfare administrator of Cement Masons Local 592. In this position, Finley deals on a daily basis with the concerns and problems facing health care consumers. Finley is also a member of the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council, the Philadelphia AFL-CIO and the Pennsylvania State Building Trades.
 Morris is a business executive with an extensive background in finance. He is currently the senior vice president and chief financial officer, Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW). Morris joined PGW in 1984 and has held increasingly responsible positions in their financial division. Morris is a member of the Philadelphia Area Board of Advisors, the United Negro College Fund. He is also on the board of the Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum and is president and a member of the board of the Lincoln Day Nursery.
 The new members were elected to a three-year term beginning March 24, 1992.
 Independence Blue Cross is the largest health insurer in southeastern Pennsylvania, providing health care coverage to about 2 million people in the Delaware Valley.
