IN HOME HEALTH REPORTS RECORD EARNINGS:
 OPENS FIRST SATELLITE OFFICE
MINNETONKA, Minn., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In Home Health, Inc. (NASDAQ: IHHI) had record net income of $563,000 for the second quarter ended March 31, 1992, a 299-percent gain over the $141,000 for the comparable period of fiscal 1991, it was announced today by Judy M. Figge, president and CEO.
Second-quarter operating income was $983,000, up 243 percent over the $287,000 of a year ago. Revenue totaled $17.8 million in the quarter, an increase of 136 percent over the $7.5 million in the second- quarter of fiscal 1991.
Earnings per share rose to $.04 per share for the quarter from $.02 per share in the second quarter of fiscal 1991, despite a 38-percent increase in the average number of shares outstanding to 16.0 million from 11.6 million shares a year ago. The increase in shares primarily reflects the exercise of In Home Health warrants over the last 12 months.
For the first half of fiscal 1992, In Home Health had net income of $1,044,000 an increase of 209 percent over the $338,000 achieved during the first half of fiscal 1991.
Operating income rose 172 percent to $1,773,000 for the first half of the current fiscal year from $653,000 in the comparable period a year ago. Revenue was $33.0 million, a 133-percent gain over $14.2 million last year.
First-half earnings per share were $.07 on 15.7 million average shares outstanding, a 40 percent increase over $.05 on 9.3 million average shares outstanding during the first half of fiscal 1991, again reflecting the exercise of the company's outstanding warrants during the last 12 months.
"These strong results in the second quarter and first half of our current fiscal year illustrate the ongoing success of our three-pronged growth strategy: new branches to extend our core services capability in existing markets, acquisitions to enter new markets, and infusion pharmacies to support existing branch operations," Figge said. "Improved profit results reflect the growth in infusion product revenue which represented 4.5 percent of total revenue for the first half of fiscal 1992, up from 1.1 percent of total revenue for the first half or fiscal 1991. We are fully committed to our long-term expansion and growth plan, while committed to our long-term expansion and growth plan, while recognizing that this causes lower profit margins in the near-term as our newer facilities build name recognition and market share," she added.
During the past quarter, In Home Health named Patricia A. Skogen, RN, Director of Hospice Services. The introduction for a hospice program at In Home Health is designed to complement services currently offered, such as extended hours of care and infusion therapy, allowing the company to provide additional services to terminally ill clients and families in their own homes. Hospice is an approach to care giving for terminally ill clients, where the focus is on palliative rather than curative care.
Also during the quarter, the company opened its sixth infusion pharmacy in the last 18 months; this one in Kansas City, Mo. Carol Smith, RPh, will manage the facility.
In addition, In Home Health has opened its first satellite office in Fairview Heights, Ill. servicing clients on the Illinois side of St. Louis. The satellite office will offer a broad range of home health care services, but administrative and support functions for the new Fairview Heights office will be provided by In Home Health's St. Louis branch, Figge said. This facility will allow us to broaden our service area within the St. Louis market, while maintaining a tight control on operating costs.
Mary Luther, RN, currently general manager of In Home Health's St. Louis branch will also serve in the same capacity at Fairview Heights. Laura Zoellner, RN, is the visit division manager at Fairview Heights. Both offices will be served by In Home Health's St. Louis infusion pharmacy.
Fairview Heights will serve as the prototype for other planned satellite offices, Figge said. Two additional satellite offices are planned for 1992. "We regard this type of facility is essential to achieving our goal of the best possible home health care to the client." In Missouri and Illinois, the company's facilities operate under the name Home Health Plus.
In Home Health provides health care service to clients of all ages in their homes. The company currently operates 22 branches and six infusion pharmacies in 10 geographic markets, including Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Kansas City St. Louis and Cincinnati.
