MINNETONKA, Minn., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- In Home Health, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: IHHI), operating as Home Health Plus, is offering hospice services in Northern California as of Nov. 22, 1993. In Home Health, Inc. also received a license to offer hospice services in Fairview Heights, Ill., on Nov. 29, 1993, allowing expansion of its St. Louis market.
Gayle Anderson, RN, BSN, and Michelle Rutledge, RN, BSN, will be the Hospice Program coordinators for the Northern California branches where the program will be offered to complement the existing company's services.
"Pat Skogen, RN, director of Hospice Services at In Home Health, is directing and coordinating the company's efforts to establish hospice services in all of its 16 markets," Ms. Judy Figge, president and CEO of In Home Health, said. "We believe that the addition of hospice services will gain client acceptance and we expect to implement hospice programs in all of these markets by the end of fiscal 1994."
According to Ms. Figge: "With the addition of Northern California and the Fairview Heights office, we have expanded our hospice program to 22 of our 38 branches. This program complements the comprehensive home care we currently provide."
"Hospice is a philosophy of care for the terminally ill that emphasizes palliative care, i.e., pain and symptom control. Using a comprehensive case management approach, hospice care is guided by a plan of care which is developed by an interdisciplinary team, educated in pain and symptom management." Ms. Figge said, "The goal of the plan is to care for the client and family, as the unit of care, and to provide an alert and pain-free life so the individual can live a quality life until they die with dignity and support at home."
In Home Health provides quality comprehensive health care services to clients of all ages in their own homes through a network of 38 offices in 16 of the nation's top 50 markets, including: Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Norfolk, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Raleigh/Durham, St. Louis, San Francisco, and Seattle.
Home health care is one of the fastest growing and most cost effective segments of the U.S. health care industry, currently estimated at $16 billion annually and expected to grow to $36 billion in the mid-1990s.
