IN FOCUS SYSTEMS EXTENDS PANELBOOK LINE OF PROJECTION PANELS

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- In Focus Systems (NASDAQ: INFS) today extended its popular line of notebook-sized PanelBook(R) projection panels to include the PanelBook 525, the company announced. The PanelBook 525, which is being unveiled here this week at Comdex, uses advanced active matrix liquid crystal display (LCD) technology to project high-impact computer graphics and animation.
Like the other members of the PanelBook line, the 525 fits easily into a briefcase. Measuring just 9.5 inches by 2 inches by 11.5 inches, its innovative form factor is up to 40 percent smaller than standard-size LCD panels. When combined with a notebook computer, the PanelBook 525 provides a complete, portable multimedia presentation system.
The PanelBook 525, which has a U.S. suggested list price of only $5,499, uses an 8.5-inch-diagonal active matrix LCD. The PanelBook 525 can project more that 1.4 million colors simultaneously and has 640 by 480 pixel screen resolution which is compatible with PC VGA and Macintosh. A fast 25 millisecond response rate supports full-motion animation at 30 frames per second.
"This latest addition to our PanelBook line demonstrates the flexibility of our modular design approach," said Mark Reed, vice president of Sales and Marketing at In Focus Systems Inc. "This design approach lets us quickly apply emerging display technology and feature sets to create computer projection solutions that best meet a broad range of presenters' needs." The compact PanelBook architecture allows for easy incorporation of technology enhancements, such as mobile power options, I/O options and advanced display technologies. Simple 'Plug And Play' Operation.
Like other members of the PanelBook family, the 525 presents vivid, computer-generated images by simply placing it on an overhead projector and connecting it to a computer. For enhanced mobility and flexibility, the 525 can be used with an optional video adapter to project video signals, including NTSC and full PAL/SECAM. In addition, a Universal Power Adapter enables the PanelBook 525 to be used with U.S. and international power sources.
A handheld "smart" remote control device controls the 525 without interrupting a presentation. An autodetect feature in the remote sends the appropriate, context-sensitive command to the PanelBook with the single touch of a button. The remote also has a customizable button for storing the user's favorite or most frequently used command.

The PanelBook 525 is available now through authorized In Focus resellers and distributors worldwide.
The PanelBook 525 joins the PanelBook 450, an affordable, full-color passive-matrix LCD panel, and the 550, an active-matrix, multimedia panel with integrated video, which were introduced by In Focus Systems earlier this year.
