IN FOCUS SYSTEMS COMBINES HEADQUARTERS, MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS IN EXPANDED FACILITY; LEASES SPACE IN WILSONVILLE, ORE.

TUALATIN, Ore., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- In Focus Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: INFS) today announced that it will move from its present location to larger facilities in Wilsonville, in order to support the company's continued growth. In Focus is a market leader in liquid crystal display (LCD) projection panels and systems for output from personal computers.
The move will enable In Focus to consolidate its manufacturing and headquarters facilities, currently at two separate locations in Tualatin, while expanding its operations to keep pace with the company's growth. The new location provides approximately 150,000 square feet of space, compared to the 72,000 square feet the company currently leases in Tualatin.
"In Focus' success mandates that we expand our facilities, yet we also have an eye toward keeping the operation efficient," said John Harker, In Focus' president and chief executive officer. "The new space is ideal for continued growth, yet reduces the costs of maintaining two separate facilities."
In Focus' engineering and manufacturing facility will initiate the company's move by relocating in April 1993. In Focus' headquarters will complete its move by December 1994. The new facility at 27700 S.W. Parkway Ave. in Wilsonville is leased from Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT).
In Focus will occupy 118,000 square feet of the facility when the move is completed, and will share the Wilsonville location with Motif Inc. Motif, a company jointly owned by In Focus Systems and Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT), signed a separate lease with Mentor Graphics for its 32,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing operation, scheduled for occupation by early February 1993.
Motif will manufacture high-resolution, low-cost, small-format liquid crystal displays using In Focus' Active Addressing technology, with availability expected by early 1994. Motif will also market the Motorola-built custom-designed integrated circuits (ICs) used in Motif LCDs. These Active Addressing ICs are planned to be available to third parties by the end of 1993.
Because Motif's LCDs will initially be sold to In Focus for use in its future self-contained projection systems, the proximity of the two firms is ideal for maximizing technical and marketing cooperation between the two companies.
In Focus Systems is a leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing innovative products using proprietary flat panel LCD technology to present output from personal computers. The company offers the broadest line of LCD products available. For more information, contact In Focus Systems at 7770 S.W. Mohawk St., Tualatin, OR 97062.
