IN FOCUS SYSTEMS AND PROXIMA RESOLVE PATENT SUIT TUALATIN, Ore., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- In Focus Systems Inc.
(NASDAQ: INFS), and Proxima Corp. jointly announced today that they have entered into a settlement agreement resolving all claims in a suit pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, according to In Focus. This suit was originally filed by In Focus in May 1990 and sought to recover damages from Proxima for infringement of In Focus' color display system patent. Proxima denied In Focus' claims of infringement and brought counterclaims against In Focus alleging invalidity of the In Focus patent, unfair competition and violation of the federal antitrust laws.
Under the terms of the settlement agreement announced today, In Focus and Proxima have each granted the other a nonexclusive license under certain of their respective color display-technology patents. The parties have agreed to keep all other terms of the settlement confidential.
