IN BRIEF......

Foundry group Goodwin has revealed a profit of pounds 8.2 million for the first three quarters of the year.

The Staffordshire-based group made the profit after revealing sales of pounds 66.1 million for the nine months to November 1. In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, the group said it had been hit by shipping delays.

It states: "The results as yet have not obtained the benefit of the increased order input achieved this year mainly due to a number of contracts in our engineering companies being delayed from shipping. It is hoped that these delays should be resolved by the financial year end.

"The above mentioned delays in shipments continue to keep control of cash flow high on our priority list as work in progress has increased by 26 per cent compared with this time last year."

Birmingham-based cable assemblies, integrated products and logistics provider, CHH Conex has introduced a new team tasked with further integrating product design and development processes within the company's business strategy.

The New Product Introduction (NPI) team, which will be led by Simon Mills, will also look, to ensure that customers products are brought into the business in an efficient, cost effective way, ensuring that the cross functional teams collaborate with the goal of meeting customers' delivery and quality demands.

Mr Mills said: "NPI is one of the three core processes within the business and which demands close resource management and competent project planning for all new products to be introduced into CHH Conex.

"Every NPI project begins with development of a detailed project plan outlining assigned responsibilities, project milestones and due dates."
