IN BRIEF: Table Tennis.

ENGLAND'S hopes of a gold medal in the Boys' team event in the World Junior Table Tennis Championships in Madrid were dashed yesterday when they were comprehensively beaten by Korea 3-0.

The match started badly for England when Cleveland's Paul Drinkhall was beaten by the world No.11 Seo Hyun Deck in three straight games (11-9, 11-7, 11-5).

England never looked like recovering as Darius Knight was beaten 3-0 by the Korean No.1 Lee Sang Su and Gavin Evans made no impression on Jung Young Sik, also losing by 3-0.

In the other semi final, China just beat Japan in a very close match by 3 sets to 2 and now play Korea in this evening's final.
