IN BRIEF: Billy no MatesOdds; NET PROPHET.
REMEMBER when exchange betting was all about two chaps having a punt against each other? A difference of opinion over the sports settled in the time-honoured manner, with cash changing hands, and not a bet-bot in sight. Dreadful wasn't it?
I'm keeping a close eye on matesodds.com - a soon-to-be-launched sort-of exchange betting site that aims to facilitate just that sort of old-school punting action.
It essentially seems to be little more than a way of recording bets you have among your pals, and, when all's said and done, facilitating the transfer of the appropriate funds via PayPal.
It claims to be completely free, which lends the whole enterprise a friendly glow, and apparently the money you bet is not deposited with MatesOdds and there's no commission to pay.
Where's the catch? Well, apart from being a wee bit pointless, it looks like it's probably going to be some sort of social networking whatnot, like FaceBook in disguise.
If you are a happy camper in the world of 'poking' and enjoy a tickle with like-minded pals, this could be for you. If not, move quickly on.
