IMPERIAL SIDELINED; King's the trainer to follow at Warwick this afternoon.

Byline: Garry Owen

IMPERIAL Commander has been ruled out of Saturday's Betfair Chase at Haydock after suffering a setback.

The 2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero has been sidelined by injury since pulling up in the Prestbury Park showpiece in March of last year, but trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies had been looking forward to seeing him return on Saturday for a race he won two years ago.

However, his comeback has now been delayed until the New Year.

Twiston-Davies said: "He's suffered a small fracture of a splint bone in a hind leg unfortunately.

"It's nothing dramatic, but it means he won't be in full work for around six weeks.

"The obvious race for him when he comes back is the Argento Chase at Cheltenham in January."

HILL: 11-8 Long Run, 9-4 Silviniaco Conti, 6 The Giant Bolster, 7 Weird Al, 10 Tidal Bay, 16 Midnight Chase, 25 bar.

A verdict on any suspension for Frankie Dettori after the jockey tested positive for a banned substance in France had not been disclosed yesterday afternoon.

The 41-year-old did not appear personally before the Medical Committee of the French racing authority, France Galop, in Paris, but made his own representation via conference call.

The committee will make their findings known to France Galop and it is understood the stewards will meet in two weeks' time to discuss it.

Brendan Powell was hit with a 14-day ban after drama at Fakenham saw 'winner' Benny The Swinger take the wrong course in the chase at Fakenham.

Powell's mount jumped the regulation last with a clear advantage, but rather than go left of the fence almost alongside the winning post, the seven-year-old went to the right and jumped the obstacle.

Powell appeared to realise his error approaching the fence but it was all too late for backers of the 5-4 favourite.

Alan King has his team in good form and sends two very promising youngsters to Warwick today in HOLLOW PENNY (1.50) and UXIZANDRE (2.50).
