IMPACT OF RECENT AGREEMENTS NOT EXPECTED BEFORE THIRD OR FOURTH QUARTER, SAYS ODETICS

ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Odetics' Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Joel Slutzky today said that the company expects the recently announced agreements between Odetics subsidiary, ATL Products Inc., and major computer equipment manufacturers to have a limited effect upon near-term financials. "While the agreements are building a strong business base for ATL Products, there is a time lag between the signing of the agreements and resulting revenue. We expect to post only modest earnings in this quarter."
Since the beginning of its fiscal year (April 1, 1993), Odetics has announced agreements between ATL Products and XL/Datacomp, Digital Equipment Corp., Storage Technology Corp. and most recently, Unisys Corp.
ATL Products is a wholly owned subsidiary of Odetics. It manufactures tape library subsystems that automate the storage and use of computer tape cartridges. ATL Products sells to both system integrators and computer manufacturers that service the mass storage marketplace for midrange and mainframe computers as well as client/server networks.
Odetics specializes in the design and manufacture of systems and subsystems to automate the storage, distribution and management of information.
