IMOGEN HEAP Ellipse (Epic) w

I FIRST fell in love with Imogen Heap when she played an angry set at Birmingham Songwriters Festival. She's mellowed since, and become the queen of electronica, her last album Speak For Yourself earning crossover commercial success. There isn't a Goodnight & Go or Hide And Seek on the new album, which largely eschews great songs in a productionheavy set of vocal textures and studio trickery, only the bookends of driving opener First Train Home and fragile finale Half Life passing muster. But listen, for wry humour in Bad Body Double. PC
