IMMEDIATE ACCESS TO THE LATEST TAX DOCUMENTS: CCH CD-ROM FEATURE CONNECTS USERS TO ONLINE TAX LIBRARIES

RIVERWOODS, Ill., April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Commerce Clearing House, Inc. (CCH) (NASDAQ-NMS: CCLRA), the leader in tax and business law reporting, today announced a major enhancement to its CD-ROM tax software that allows users to immediately access the companies' Online tax library at any time during their CD-ROM research session. The result is the only totally integrated tax research system that saves time, is easier to use, and provides the most current and comprehensive coverage available.
CCH'S new feature, called "Extend," will be available with the release of the companies' new 2.0 CD-ROM software in April 1993. "The most important benefit of Extend is the researcher's ability to get the most current versions of publications they subscribe to on CD-ROM," says Ellen Kaminski, CCH CD-ROM Product Manager. "In addition, users will have access to the full array of Online tax publications that they don't subscribe to on CD-ROM."
By integrating both systems, CCH subscribers will realize a substantial savings while expanding their research. "We are able to offer our customers the best of both worlds -- the low fixed cost of CD-ROM and the breadth and currency of Online," Kaminski concluded. "This is an especially timely enhancement in view of the upcoming tax legislation. Considering the fact that more people will be spending a great deal of time tracking tax developments, the Extend feature provides the most cost efficient route to the latest legislation, committee reports, and daily tax news Online."
In addition, CD-ROM users will find the Extend feature especially appealing since they do not need to learn new research skills. The same commands that are used when working with CD-ROM can be used while working with Online documents. From the CD-ROM research session, users can move directly to a document in the Online database, print or download any documents that they find, and then return to their CD-ROM research session.
