 IMC FERTILIZER CREATES EXECUTIVE OFFICE
 NORTHBROOK, Ill., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- IMC Fertilizer Group,


Inc. (NYSE: IFL), said today it has created a Corporate Executive office, appointing three senior vice presidents to that unit to "more effectively focus responsibilities on specific sectors of the company's operations as required to meet changing market and business needs."
 Effective immediately, Robert C. Brauneker, Richard J. Hedberg and James D. Speir have been named to that office, with new titles as executive vice presidents. The three men continue to report to the company's chairman and chief executive officer, Billie B. Turner, under the new organization.
 Brauneker, as executive vice president and chief financial officer, continues to have responsibility for all corporate finance functions, and assumes responsibility for information systems, facilities and purchasing.
 Hedberg, as executive vice president, marketing, is responsible for the company's sales, marketing, logistics and product management functions, as well as corporate communications and strategic planning.
 Speir, as executive vice president, operations, assumes responsibility for IMCF potash production activities in Saskatchewan, Canada, and Carlsbad, N.M., in addition to continuing direction of the company's Florida phosphate operations and its Main Pass sulphur project in the Gulf of Mexico. Speir also now will direct safety and environmental services programs as well as quality control activities throughout the corporation.
 All three men are long-time IMCF employees. Brauneker joined the company in 1958; Hedberg in 1960; and Speir in 1962.
 IMC Fertilizer Group, Inc., is one of the world's leading producers and marketers of phosphate rock and potash, and a major manufacturer of concentrated phosphates. The company also produces oil and natural gas, and recovers uranium oxide for sale to electric utilities for upgrading as fuel for nuclear power plants.
