ILLINOIS ATTORNEY GENERAL'S STRUGGLE WITH PANTYHOSE ENDS WITH NO WINNER

ILLINOIS ATTORNEY GENERAL'S STRUGGLE WITH PANTYHOSE ENDS WITH NO WINNER
CHICAGO, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Advertising agency Foote, Cone & Belding/Chicago and its client Kayser-Roth Corp. today announced a settlement with the Illinois Attorney General's Office over allegations concerning year-old advertising for No Nonsense Pantyhose. No wrongdoing was proven or admitted.
Over the past several months of legal maneuvering, FCB/Chicago and Kayser-Roth have vigorously denied the Attorney General's allegations that certain durability claims for No Nonsense were inadequately substantiated.
Both the ad agency and Kayser-Roth furnished extensive testing reports in support of the advertised claims. Rather than continue expensive and unproductive legal debates, FCB/Chicago and Kayser-Roth agreed to a settlement of $25,000, far less than the cost of even another week's worth of legal wrangling.
"Although politicians always want to appear to be winners, the fact is this case cost the parties, including the people of the state of Illinois, far more than the settlement fee. We're happy that this government effort to keep an eye on pantyhose advertising is no longer draining our resources or the taxpayers of the state of Illinois," said a Kayser-Roth spokesperson.
