CENTURY CITY, Calif., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG), announced today orders for new jets valued at $4.1 billion. The orders include 53 new aircraft from Boeing, 28 from Airbus Industrie and one from McDonnell Douglas Corporation.
The 53 new aircraft ordered from Boeing consist of 15 Boeing 737's, 19 Boeing 757's, three Boeing 747-400's, 10 Boeing 767-300 ER's, and six Boeing 777-200B's. The Boeing order includes the exercise of 18 previously held options for eight B-737's, four B-757's, three B-767's and three B-747's, plus new options for 17 aircraft, including five 737's, five 757's, five 767's and two 777's.

ILFC also converted an MD-11 option to a firm order for March 1995 delivery.
The initial deliveries begin in 1994, with most of the deliveries in the 1996, 1997, and 1998 timeframe (see schedule below).
"Our core aircraft leasing business has been steadily growing in volume, demand and profitability, which is rapidly exhausting our existing order book and now requires ILFC to secure adequate supplies of new technology jet aircraft to meet our customer requirements," said Leslie L. Gonda, chairman of ILFC.
The orders for 53 new Boeing aircraft and 28 new Airbus aircraft involve every commercial product built by those manufacturers. This is the first time ILFC has ordered Boeing's new technology wide-body long range twinjet, the B-777-200B. For the B-777's ILFC has selected General Electric's advanced generation GE-90 engines. ILFC has also decided to become a co-launch customer for the new Airbus A319, 130-seat jet (which is subject to launch by Airbus), powered by CFM-56 engines.
"The combined value of the new firm orders is approximately $4.1 billion and all of the 25 options, if exercised in the future, are valued at a total of $1.3 billion," said Mr. Gonda.
As part of the aircraft orders, ILFC has selected five engine manufacturers to power the aircraft covered in the new order. They include General Electric Company, CFM International, International Aero Engines, Pratt & Whitney (United Technologies Corp.) and Rolls Royce PLC.
Their engines will be installed in the following aircraft types:
 General Electric: B-747-400, B-767-300ER,
