ILFC ORDERS 28 FIRM AIRBUS INDUSTRIE AIRCRAFT, INCLUDING FIRST A319 FIRM ORDER AND TAKES EIGHT OPTIONS

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Los Angeles-based International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC) and Airbus Industrie announced today that ILFC has ordered 28 Airbus aircraft, valued at over $1.5 billion, from the entire Airbus family, including the A319. ILFC also took eight additional options.
The new order is for four firm and three option A300-600Rs, one firm A310-300, six firm and two option A319s, five firm A320s, nine firm and two option A321s, one firm and one option A330 and two firm A340-300s. This new order is in addition to previous firm orders from ILFC for 75 Airbus aircraft.
Deliveries will take place over a five-year period beginning in late 1994.
ILFC has placed the first firm order for the as-yet-to-be- launched A319. The A319 is a reduced capacity version of the popular twin-engine standard-body A320. As well as retaining the proven features of the A320 and A321 -- including a wider standard-body cabin and optional containerized cargo/baggage loading system -- the A319 will share similar systems and the same flight deck. The A319 is offered with the same choice of engines as the A320 and A321: CFM International CFM56-5 or International Aero Engines V2500 engines.
The A319 will offer more range potential and low operating costs than any competitor in its category. It is capable of carrying 124 passengers in two classes up to 2,800 nautical miles. It can also seat up to 154 passengers in a high density seating configuration.
ILFC, an Airbus customer since 1987, has placed previous orders for each Airbus Industrie aircraft type. With this transaction, ILFC's firm orders total 103, valued at nearly $7 billion, including nine A300-600Rs (of which three have been delivered), eight A310-300s (of which five have been delivered), six A319s, 41 A320s (of which six have been delivered), 24 A321s, 12 A330s and three A340s. ILFC has already placed all Airbus aircraft due for delivery in 1993 and 1994 with operators.
