ILC and Balum Join Forces to Serve Andean Region; New Balum Business Unit to Market ILC's MaxView(R) Software; CCNP, A Leading Operator of Colombian Broadcast Networks, Now Deploys MaxView.

ATLANTA -- Communications network management software company ILC announces a new partnership with Balum Telecommunications, a leading Colombian systems integrator and consultancy based in Bogota. Balum is marketing ILC's MaxView(R) management platform to broadcasting, cable, satellite, mobile, and telecommunications companies in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Panama.

Responding to the rapidly expanding market for video services in the Andean region, Balum has made a strategic corporate investment by creating a new business unit devoted exclusively to selling MaxView(R).

"We are constantly receiving feedback from our customers about how it is getting more and more difficult to cost-effectively operate their communications networks," said Francisco Ujueta, General Manager of Balum. "A big factor is the increasingly complex blend of network technologies they must manage. Now, we can offer customers an off-the-shelf solution that uses powerful automation to deliver the highest quality services while holding the line on costs."

"Balum understands where the video, mobile and satellite markets are moving in the Andean region," said Richard Graham, President of ILC. "More importantly, they have the expertise, leadership and commitment to meet the emerging needs of those markets by leveraging the MaxView platform. With Balum, we are eager to further expand our presence in Latin America."

Balum's first MaxView customer win is CCNP, a company that provides network maintenance services to 114 television stations spread across Colombia, including the largest private Colombian television operators, Caracol and RCN. "There is no question that the MaxView management platform is simply ideal for modern broadcast networks," said John Alexander Rodriguez, Laboratory Chief for CCNP.

MaxView enables service providers to achieve a higher quality of service (QoS), automate critical network operations, and lower their operational costs. From one console, MaxView manages and controls hybrid networks and their converged technologies such as satellite, broadcast, IP, IT, ATM, microwave, and other related technologies, facilities and equipment. Functionally, MaxView performs end-to-end provisioning, event scheduling and activation, self-healing automation, alarm correlation, carrier monitoring, spectrum planning, tailored reporting and more.
