Byline: Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan, 26, who quits as barmaid Tina McIntyre next year, talks to DINAH TURNER about beauty regimes, crying, and why she's doing her bit for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Why did you get involved in the Tickled Pink campaign? IT'S a really great campaign to be involved with. Tickled Pink has raised more than PS30million for two of the UK's leading breast cancer charities, Breast Cancer Campaign and Breast Cancer Care.

I think that's such an immense amount of work and fundraising and I was touched to be asked to get involved with it this year.

Has breast cancer affected you or anyone in your family? IT hasn't directly, no, but the statistics suggest that it will one day, so that's why I'm getting involved. It will affect one in 10 women in their lifetime.

Do you check your breasts regularly? YES, I do. It's really important. I check them in the shower. If you do find a lump, it will usually be harmless, but if it does turn out to be cancer, finding it early is so important.

Talks us through your beauty regime? I EXFOLIATE my body once or twice a week with Soap & Glory Body Scrub, which is great at getting rid of dead skin cells, and I use a good moisturiser on my face, like Origins Dr Weil MegaBright Serum.

I don't wear a lot of make-up for my role on Corrie as Tina is younger than I am in real life, but it's important to look OONN LLEEAAVVIINNGG HHEERR RROOLLEE IINN CCOORRRRIIEE...... Are you scared or excited about leaving Corrie after five years? I would say I definitely feel a sense of nervous excitement.

Will you miss Tina's hooped earrings and hoodies? HA-HA, yes I will in a way. I love hoodies, though, I'll probably ask the wardrobe department if I can keep a few.

after your skin and to always take your make-up off at the end of the day.

What's the one beauty product you can't live without? PROBABLY my Origins moisturiser. Or Darphin Clear White Serum, that's pretty special! Face wipes are integral to my routine too.

What's your favourite body part? I ACTUALLY like my hands and feet!

You're in great shape, do you exercise much? I TRY to get to the gym three times a week but it depends on how busy I am in work. I try to get those three visits out of the way by going early.

What's your favourite way to keep fit? WELL, I never deprive myself of treats.

A little of what you fancy is fine, I think, and I love food. I make sure I eat a healthy and balanced diet, though. I enjoy takeaways, but I only have them once or twice a fortnight. My favourite way of exercising is swimming or doing an hour of cardio mixed up with weights in the gym.

You play a barmaid in the Rovers Return but do you drink or smoke in real life? NO, I don't smoke. I do like the odd cocktail and glass of wine but I'm not a massive drinker.

What's your idea of the perfect night in? THAT would be curled up on my couch with the dogs and a girly DVD. To me, that's heaven!

How do you unwind? I LOVE a big bath with loads of bubbles and putting on some cosy pyjamas. If I need some time out, then I visit an amazing spa in Huddersfield called Titanic. There's hardly any phone reception and in just 24 hours I leave feeling so relaxed and rested!

What makes you the most happy? BEING around my family and loved ones. And, of course, Mark (her fiance, the former TOWIE star Mark Wright) makes me happy.

When did you last cry? THE last time I cried was for my job. Tina went through a stage of crying a lot and I had to cry on cue. To do that I just think of something that makes me feel very sad and that usually works.

Congratulations on being awarded Best Actress at the TV Choice Awards. What's next for you work wise? THANK you so much, it was such a wonderful surprise! I am with Coronation Street until the end of May and then I have no idea what's next, which really excites me! I think in January I will start having meetings about other roles, so I might have a better idea by then.
