IDT and Mail Call Sign Agreement; Nationwide ISP Offers E-Mail by Telephone.

HACKENSACK, NJ and FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1998--IDT Corporation (NASDAQ: IDTC) and Mail Call, Inc. today announced that they have entered into an agreement to offer IDT Internet subscribers the ability to retrieve E-Mail via the telephone, using cutting edge text-to-speech technology. The IDT Mail Call service allows subscribers to hear their E-Mail messages via a call to a toll-free telephone number, without the need for a computer or laptop.

IDT subscribers can sign up for the IDT Mail Call service on the World Wide Web, by visiting www.mailcall.idt.net. The sign-up process takes about one minute, and affords the user immediate access. The cost of the service is $9.95 per month, which includes 30 minutes of usage. Heavy users who exceed the 30 minutes pay .19 per minute. IDT Mail Call subscribers get the first 30 minutes of the first month free.

IDT Mail Call users are prompted with the headers for each of their E-Mail messages, after which they have several options for managing their E-Mail. Subscribers can choose to listen to the text of the message (in English or Spanish), have a hard copy of the message sent to any fax machine in North America, or reply to the message using one of several state-of-the-art features.

IDT Mail Call also offers several preference options, which can be set by the user on the web and take effect immediately on the next phone call: Six different voices with three pitches each, a default fax phone number, a customized response, and several pattern matching strings which can be used to filter and prioritize E-Mail.

"The preferred and excluded strings are useful for users who receive a lot of E-Mail, and want vital mail from their boss or an important client read first, or junk mail excluded," says Ron Schnell, President of Mail Call. "For example, the subscriber could put their boss's last name as a preferred string, and 'get rich' as an excluded string. The message from their boss would be read before other messages, and the 'Get Rich Quick' message would not be read at all."

Additionally, users have the ability to reply with one of Mail Call's "canned" responses, a customized pre-set response of up to 512 characters set by the user, or a callback phone number which the user touch-tones in and is then sent as part of the reply. Users can also respond to message via voice, which is sent to recipients as an audio file attachment.
