IDEX CORP.'S VIKING PUMP BUSINESS UNIT RETURNS TO WORK

 NORTHBROOK, Ill., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- IDEX Corp. (NYSE: IEX) today reported that members of the International Association of Machinists (IAM), Local 1728, at its Viking Pump Business Unit in Cedar Falls, Iowa, returned to work without a contract on April 1, 1993. Members of the local had continued to work without a contract following expiration of the collective bargaining agreement on Jan. 30, but initiated a work stoppage on March 18.
 Economic provisions of the company's final contract proposal were implemented on March 26; therefore returning workers will receive the higher wages and fringe benefits included in that proposal.
