 IDENTITY LIFTS 'BLACK BOX' IMAGE FROM CONSUMER PC MARKET
 RICHARDSON, Texas, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Consumer


Electronics Show in Chicago, Identity Systems Technology, Inc., will introduce a new way for PC users to buy board-level upgrades and extensions for their systems -- through the mass merchandising channel. Identity will also unveil its aggressive retail merchandising support program to benefit merchants and customers alike.
 Only a few years ago PC purchasers needed hands-on help from vendors to configure and install their systems. That situation has changed rapidly, as consumers are increasingly comfortable with electronics products, and many are extremely sophisticated in their knowledge of computers and peripherals. These customers expect to be able to purchase off-the-shelf components and configure their own processor, monitor, printer, modem, and other compatible peripherals. The success of mass merchants selling these products attest to that. But, the consumer market stops at the product case; the level of complexity, at installing cables and connectors to link "black boxes."
 Identity Systems Technology believes it is time to lift this "black box" limitation and make board-level extension and upgrade products, such as memory, math co-processors, and disk drives, available through the mass merchant channel.
 From plastic bubble-packed mice to large hard drive upgrades, math co-processors, and SIMMs, Identity's coherently designed "family"-look packaging scheme is designed to attract customers to select a "system" of compatible IDENTITY components, IDENTITY product packages include all the information the customer needs to select the desired peripherals, and thorough user documentation assists in installing, configuring, and running them effectively. New step-by-step instructional video tapes are included for many components -- another evidence of Identity's progressive consumer marketing strategy.
 Identity now offers an additional incentive for mass merchants to choose to sell IDENTITY products; a nationwide network of more than 250 merchandising support specialists. These merchandising and product experts will not only assemble and maintain displays and stock products on the sales floor, but also provide sales training, demonstrations, and promotional support. They will work defective stock issues, provide inventory management services, and serve as a conduit for communication with Identity management. These services not only enhance sales potential, but relieve retail staff merchandising pressures to the mutual benefit of Identity and its retailers.
