IDB MOBILE SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH AMSC TO PROVIDE ENHANCED COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES TO MARITIME MARKETS

 LOS ANGELES, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- IDB MOBILE Communications Inc., a joint venture of IDB Communications Group Inc. (NASDAQ: IDBX) and Teleglobe International of Canada, announced today it has signed a value-added service provider agreement with American Mobil Satellite Corp. (AMSC) whereby IDB will provide up to 10 million minutes of enhanced voice and data communications services to maritime markets utilizing AMSC's Mobile satellite service.
 IDB MOBILE markets maritime and land mobile satellite communications services to users including commercial shipping fleets, fishing vessels, pleasure cruises, oil rigs and tankers and remote land operations. The company will provide operator services and specialized maritime equipment to maritime vessels using AMSC's MSAT satellite.
 AMSC holds the Federal Communications Commission license to construct and operate a mobile satellite service that will provide mobile voice, fax and data services to maritime, land mobile, aeronautical and fixed site markets in the United States.

"Our Inmarsat-M customers will enjoy even lower cost advantages within AMSC's coverage area. Additionally, smaller yachts and fishing vessels will now be able to enjoy the cost and service-quality benefits of AMSC's exciting new service."

 AMSC is licensed to operate a full-service mobile satellite system for the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and 200 miles of coastal waters. AMSC's shareholders include Hughes Communications Inc., the world's largest owner and operator of commercial communications satellites; McCaw Cellular Communications Inc., the world's largest cellular communications provider; Singapore Telecom, a world leader in providing telecommunications infrastructure to meet business requirements; and Mtel Corp., the largest nationwide paging company.
