IDB MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS AND SEA LINK SIGN DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT FOR MOBILE SATELLITE TELEPHONE COMMUNICATION

LOS ANGELES, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- IDB Communications Group Inc. (NASDAQ: IDBX) announced that IDB MOBILE Communications Inc., a joint venture of IDB Communications Group Inc. and Teleglobe International of Canada, have signed a two-year Inmarsat-A service distribution agreement with Sea Link Ltd., whereby Sea Link will coordinate mobile satellite voice, fax and data communication to Canadian and other international users.
This global service will be provided via IDB's earth stations at Niles Canyon, Calif., Staten Island, N.Y., and Gnangara, Australia.
Inmarsat, headquartered in London, is an international organization comprised of over 60 member countries that operates a network of four geosynchronous satellites strategically positioned to provide worldwide mobile telephone services. The Inmarsat-A system uses a weather-proof stabilized dish with the convenience of standard telephone interfaces, which can be purchased from a variety of manufacturers worldwide.
"Access to IDB MOBILE's earth stations will not only allow Sea Link to offer their customers high-quality telephone and facsimile services, but also enhanced features such as 56-kilobit data, high-speed broadcast, slow-scan television, phonecard charging and telex services," said Nils Helle, vice president of Sea Link.
"Sea Link has been providing modern cost-effective telecommunications to mariners for over seven years and this agreement with IDB adds new capability to an already proven business style," Helle continued.
"IDB is pleased to be teamed with Sea Link to provide fishing vessels, offshore oil and gas platforms and international and domestic shipping operations with this high-quality, cost-effective service," said John Marra, IDB's vice president, Maritime Sales.
Sea Link Ltd. is Canada's oceanic common carrier for marine and aeronautical communications. Its Rainbow Radio division supplies operational communications services to more than 30 international airlines while the marine division, Tors Cove Radio, provides telecommunications services to fishing fleets, transportation companies and offshore oil and gas operations. Sea Link owns and operates several Virtual Earth Stations in Canada for the store-and-forward data service known as Inmarsat-C.
IDB Communications Group Inc. is a global telecommunications company that operates a domestic and international communications network providing its customers with radio and television transmission services, international private line and long distance telephone services, mobile satellite communications capabilities and the design and integration of satellite networks worldwide.
