ID solved 62yrs on.

A SAILOR killed at Pearl Harbor has finally been identified, 62 years after he was buried.

Payton Vanderpool died on December 7, 1941 in the Japanese blitz on the Hawaii port.

His identity remained a mystery until an 83-year-old survivor told officials recently he had evidence to prove who he was and the body was dug up.

Dental records showed it was Payton. His sister Thelma Blanton, 76, said: "This is like a miracle."

Payton, only the second unknown Pearl Harbor casualty to be identified, will be reburied next to his parents in Missouri.
