ICJ Warns US Not to Embark on Any New Anti-Iran Move.
Summary: TEHRAN (FNA)- The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in a letter to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged Washington to bring to a halt its re-imposition of new sanctions against Iran.
The ICJ's letter came after Iran filed a lawsuit against the United States illegal withdrawal from the nuclear deal and reinstating its unilateral sanctions.
The ICJ said that the US pullout violated a treaty reached between the two countries in 1955.
The Iranian government has asked the ICJ for urgent action against unlawful return of US sanctions, specially in the areas of health, medicine as well as air safety, and to order the United States to provisionally lift the sanctions and stop reinstating anymore sanctions while the trial is going on.
Experts believe that the ICJ's order can act like provisional orders banning any seize of the properties in financial cases, indicating the sensitivity and importance of Iran's lawsuit for the International Court of Justice.
