ICI reached an agreement in principle to sell its specialty compounds business, made up of LNP's worldwide thermoplastic specialty compounds business and ICI's long fiber thermoplastic compounds business, with the exception of certain products in Europe, to Kawasaki Steel for about $100 million. Headquartered in Exton, PA, the business has manufacturing operations at three other sites in the U.S. and in Holland. Kawasaki Steel, previously involved in the metals business is diversifying both geographically, from its present Japanese base, and in product terms, into plastic materials.
