ICI PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS TO AID HURRICANE ANDREW VICTIMS
WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- ICI Professional Products, a business unit of ICI Americas Inc., announced today it plans to airlift more than 4,000 pounds of TALON(R)-G rodenticide and COMMODORE(R) WP insecticide to help alleviate the rodent and insect problems in south Miami, occurring in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew.
The donated products are scheduled to arrive at the Emery Air Freight Terminal, in Oak Creek, Wis., just outside Milwaukee, today, around noon. The shipment will leave Oak Creek later today bound for Miami, where it will be delivered to Van, Waters & Rogers, a major distributor for ICI in Miami. Van, Waters & Rogers will provide qualified, licensed, local Pest Control Operators with free product to control infestation in the areas devastated by Hurricane Andrew.
TALON rodenticide is a single-feeding anticoagulant bait for control of Norway rats, roof rats and house mice in and around homes, industrial, commercial, agricultural and public buildings. TALON-G products are the only anticoagulant rodenticides labelled for use against both warfarin-resistant rats and mice. The amount of product being shipped to Miami is capable of controlling more than 1 million rats or 4 million mice.
COMMODORE WP insecticide is a leading broad-spectrum insecticide which effectively controls a range of public health pests such as flies, spiders, ants, scorpions, cockroaches, ticks, mosquitoes, etc. It is fast-acting, controlling insects in minutes rather than days, and at a very low rate of active ingredient. COMMODORE WP insecticide offers a broad range of public health applications including use in homes and food handling establishments.
"These are tragic and emotional times for the residents of these communities," stated Doug Mills, North American communications manager for ICI Professional Products. "We've been working closely with various agencies in the south Miami communities to assist them in resolving the pest control problems that have developed in the days following Hurricane Andrew. This is our way of giving something back to the community," he added.
