ICE CREAM CARTONS FOR KIDS AND CRAFTS

ICE CREAM CARTONS FOR KIDS AND CRAFTS
OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream is

kicking off a new donation program for Bay Area schools, community groups and non-profit organizations. Empty unused half-gallon and quart ice cream cartons, handy for storage, will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who request them.
"Because of budget cutbacks, we've discovered that more and more schools and community organizations are being creative in looking for materials they can use for crafts and storage," said Diane McIntyre, president of Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream's Charitable Foundation.
Dreyer's has made cartons available on a limited basis to teachers who have contacted them in the past but has now made arrangements with the manufacturing plant to recycle all unused cartons with this program.
Ice cream cartons are formed just prior to being filled with ice cream. Each carton is flavor specific and is code dated on the bottom panel. When a flavor run ends, the remainder of the pre-formed cartons of that flavor cannot be used another day because of the code date. These cartons will now be put to good use.
Interested organizations should call 800-888-3442 and ask for extension 4264, where they can leave their name and telephone number. Depending on the current supply and demand, individuals will be contacted when their order is available. Cartons must be picked up by the recipient on Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream's corporate headquarters, located at 5929 College Avenue, Oakland.
