It includes information on the format and conventions, basic coding guidelines, and introductory material on supplementary classifications, as well as more advanced information and information on ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, with case summary exercises. This edition has updated information on the official 2012 code changes, including new topics such as borderline diagnoses, thalassemia, bariatric surgery and its potential complications, complications of cystostomy, saddle emboli, heart valve repair procedures, basal and squamous cell skin cancers, and pelvic fractures. Leon-Chisen directs coding and classification at the AHA.
