ICC TECHNOLOGIES OPENS MANUFACTURING PLANT IN PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- ICC Technologies, Inc. announced today the opening of a new 19,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located at the Arsenal Business Center, formerly the Frankford Arsenal, in Northeast Philadelphia.
ICC Technologies designs and manufactures compressorless dehumidification and cooling equipment for commercial and industrial markets. This unique, CFC-free technology allows for greater comfort, and dramatically lowers operating costs by separating humidity and temperature controls. Typical installations include supermarkets, hospitals, office buildings and ice skating rinks.
When fully staffed, the facility will employ more than 200 people and produce more than $25 million per year in air conditioning, dehumidification and heating equipment. The building incorporates advanced manufacturing automation and is designed for maximum flexibility.
"Opening this manufacturing facility is a major step forward for ICC Technologies," said Irwin L. Gross, chairman of ICC Technologies. "We investigated a number of potential sites, but none were as attractive or advantageous as Philadelphia. At a time when the city's employment base is shrinking, we are particularly pleased with our decision."
This new facility replaces ICC Technologies' manufacturing capabilities in Houston. "We are currently field testing Desert Cool, a new gas-powered air conditioning system which has no compressor, is completely free of ozone-destructive refrigerants such as CFCs and operates with more fresh air to eliminate the effects of `sick building syndrome,'" said Carl Dranoff, chief operating officer. "Our first 50 units are scheduled for production at this facility.
"In addition, we will be able to consolidate and integrate our manufacturing activities with our research and development and engineering staff which is currently based at our headquarters in the Callowhill section of Philadelphia. We shipped our first finished product in May," he added.
The new facility gives ICC Technologies the capacity to expand and develop new technologies and products to replace existing CFC-based air conditioning equipment in commercial, industrial and residential applications.
