ICC TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES FIVE-YEARMARKETING AGREEMENT WITH PROVEN ALTERNATIVES

PHILADELPHIA, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- ICC Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ICGN), a leading developer of energy efficient air conditioning and climate control systems, announced today that it has signed a 5 year agreement with Proven Alternatives, Inc. (PAI), a San Francisco-based energy efficiency services company which designs, builds and finances comprehensive energy efficiency projects. PAI currently holds contracts with 8 public utilities in implementing demand side management programs aimed at projects which reduce energy use in their service territories. The utilities with which Proven Alternatives has contracts include: Pacific Gas & Electric, Portland General Electric, Central Maine Power, Jersey Central Power & Light, Public Service Electric & Gas and Puget Sound Power & Light.
ICC's DESI/AIR(TM) systems save electricity by reducing the requirements of traditional air conditioning systems by 60 percent to 80 percent when installed as a supplement to such systems. Additional savings result from DESI/AIR's use of natural gas instead of electricity as the primary power source. ICC's proprietary desiccant technology controls humidity and temperature independently, enhances air quality by inducting more fresh air and contributes to the environment by eliminating refrigerants. DESI/AIR applications include supermarkets, department stores, office buildings, hotels, hospitals and nursing homes and other commercial and industrial buildings.
Proven Alternatives has achieved substantial savings, as measured in dollars, kilowatt hours and environmental benefits, by improving the efficiency of lighting, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and other electric power systems and equipment in commercial and industrial buildings. In addition to reduced operating costs, Proven Alternatives projects usually earn rebates from utilities and are eligible for financing with carrying charges normally less than operational savings.
Irwin Gross, chairman of ICC, said, "We believe this agreement will be beneficial to the entire conservation community, and that it will foster the goals of the Energy Policy Act of 1992. This agreement, permitting ICC and Proven Alternatives to work together should provide strong benefits for both parties from existing products and services, as well as provide an additional opportunity for growth as both companies broaden their product lines and activities in the future."
In addition to its DESI/AIR system, ICC Technologies is currently field testing a revolutionary new air conditioning system, Desert Cool, that has no compressor and uses no refrigerants. Through the addition of a new super desiccant material developed by Engelhard Corporation, Desert Cool provides total air conditioning and climate control for a wide range of applications. It will be available commercially in 1994.
