IBM acquires Algorithmics for USD380.2m.

IBM (NYSE:IBM) announced on Friday the closing of its acquisition of analytics software and advisory services provider Algorithmics.

The purchase price is USD380.2m.

IBM said that the acquisition expands its business analytics capabilities in the area of financial risk.

The companies' analytics technologies and improved business processes are expected to enable companies to measure and assess operational risk associated with lending processes and market and credit risk exposures.

With the closing of this acquisition, approximately 900 Algorithmics employees will join IBM's Software Group.
