 IBM VICE PRESIDENT HOWARD G. FIGUEROA TO RETIRE
 ARMONK, N.Y., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Howard G. Figueroa, IBM vice


president, commercial and industry relations, will retire from IBM (NYSE: IBM) effective April 30 after 40 years of service.
 Figueroa joined IBM in 1952 as a marketing representative in New York. He served in various management positions and in 1969 was named vice president, marketing and development, data processing division. In 1970, he was named vice president, management services, within the same division. In 1974, Figueroa was named vice president, data processing operations, IBM World Trade Americas/Far East Corporation. He also served as vice president, Far East, Americas/Far East Corporation; vice president, management services, Americas/Far East Corporation; and a member of the Board of Directors of Americas/Far East Corporation. Figueroa was named IBM director of commercial relations in 1984, and he was elected to his current position in 1985.
 IBM Chairman John F. Akers said, "Howard Figueroa's long career at IBM has been marked by excellence in each assignment he has undertaken. His leadership and counsel in commercial and industry relations have been invaluable to IBM, and we wish him well upon his retirement."
