IBM OFFERS NEW 'TOOLS GUIDE' FOR OS/2 SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS

SOMERS, N.Y., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM's Personal Software Products division today announced the availability of the 1993 edition of the OS/2 Development Tools Guide, designed for software developers.
The Spring 1993 Guide is a comprehensive, 150-page resource book providing information on more than 250 products from more than 100 independent software vendors that can be used in developing OS/2(A) applications.
"We produced the Guide in response to requests for information from developers around the world who want to take advantage of OS/2 and 32- bit technology to deliver new OS/2 applications as well as host-based applications," says JoA?. Soyring, director of software developer programs, Personal Software Products division.
Intended to help OS/2 software developers readily locate the right tools for each project, the Guide is organized by product category and cross-referenced by both product names and company names.
The new OS/2 Development Tools Guide can be obtained free of charge by calling IBM's Worldwide Developer Assistance Program (DAP) at 407-982-6408.
The DAP organization offers a variety of technical, business and marketing-support programs to developers, who are encouraged to create OS/2 applications across a complete range of application categories and industry segments.
More than two million copies of OS/2 have been shipped to customers worldwide since it was first released in April 1992, and over 1,200 32- bit applications for OS/2 users have been released by commercial software developers.
OS/2 protects customers' investments in existing software by enabling them to run tens of thousands of applications originally developed for DOS and Windows(B) as well as new applications designed specifically to take advantage of the advanced technology offered by OS/2.
